A trinity thought – submitted by Nancy Hale
I use a braid to illustrate the interconnectedness of the Trinity. Each strand is separate, but in a braid, they are interwoven in such a way that if one strand is removed, the braid falls apart.
I use smooth rope to make a braid and I pull one strand out for a graphic illustration.

Theme – Fire and Breath/Wind – for Pentecost
submitted by Stewart Goudie, Trainee Minister
Visual Props – box of matches, incense sticks, breath(!), glass of water, saucer. Need one match, and two incense stick out of packs.
Hold up matchstick with fingers over lighting end.
Do the children know what it is? Wood, Match.
What is it good for? Making fire. Lighting other things.
Light the match.
Blow it out.
Now hold up the incense stick.
Do the children know what it is? No?
Closer look? Smell it?
It’s an incense stick.
What’s it good for? Staying alight. Making a nice smell.
Light it with a match.
Blow it. Doesn’t go out.
The wind makes it burn brighter!
Can I light another incense stick with it?
No, or Yes!
Show No.
Blow it bright and show Yes.
Lesson.
All of Jesus’ followers have a little glow of faith in them.
Let the Wind of the Holy Spirit blow it bright.
And help to start someone else’s little glow.
Glow for God.
Let’s pray.
Dear Jesus, Thank you for our glow of faith. Blow on us by your Holy Spirit and make us bright sparks to bring a glow of faith to more of your children. Amen. |
